Harmonix

A game that teaches one to play the music is one that Harmonix from Harmonix Music System has given the gaming world. The game is very classic and very playable. It takes away the alienation of the instrument in a step by step fashion. There is the discovery and democratisation of music where the key figures have often been masters of visual mnemonics, able to see the unlikeliest links between images and memory. The basic plucking of the strings is More

Way back in time

I’m going to talk about one of the real legends of computer games in this blog; one that pre-dates even Mario Bros. and Sonic! Any true child of the 80s will have had a ZX Spectrum computer, complete with rubber keys, and any fan of the ZX Spectrum will undoubtedly have played The Hobbit.
This was real hi-tech stuff at the time, though kids today would no doubt sneer at the simple graphics, lack of action and low body count. More

PC versus Console Gaming

PC versus Console Gaming

This debate has been around for some time now. And quite frankly it is a quite hot one. Some of your friends probably argue all the time which is best. However each one has advantages and disadvantages. Here I will discuss only the advantages, because thinking about disadvantages can make you feel sad.

Advantages of PC:

First of all PC gaming can provide the best visual experience. The graphics are much better, as you can build a power system with More

F1 2010

The previous F1 titles were a shame and a sham, for god knows what reasons these stupid games carried the official F1 title on them. I wonder who was in charge. But things are looking up, greatly! F1 2010 has made the hatters and the complainers zip up their gobs. Codemasters took over and did a great job.
The cars look fantastic and so do the tracks, you enter the game as your yourself, not as Schumacher or Vettel, which More

Curse of the Monkey Island

Curse of the Monkey Island

Guybrush Threpwood (at least I think thats how you spell his name) takes you to the Monkey Island where he falls into a adventure I don’t think he really intended to. The love of his life is captured by the evil La Chuck, Guybrush needs to gather all his courage and rescue her eventhough he’s only 1/4 of La Chucks size.

Let me tell you this, the story might sound so cliche but this is probably one of the best More

Age of Empires

Age of Empires

Even though I never really saw a great story line in Age of Empires, I still saw it as a great game. This game along with StarCraft have shaped strategy gaming ever since. The excitement of seeing these two games dominate the strategy market for a long time makes it one of the most memorable gaming experiences of the 90’s. If you haven’t played them, I wonder what’s stopping you from playing them now.

The dated graphics don’t really disturb More

DANTE’S (GRUESOME) INFERNO

DANTE'S (GRUESOME) INFERNO

I was a bit worried when I picked up Dante’s Inferno as I was told by a friend of mine that it was far to visually violent. This is something that you’d strictly keep away from your younger brothers or sisters from playing. I started of with it, I had no the issue with the nudity in the game, if your mature enough its not something offensive, but some characters made in the game where far to gruesome. I couldn’t even imagine how did the creators of the game come up with this weird ideas.
If I had to score the game out of 10, I’d give it a 4.5. Reason being that the game was to sick to be played. Secondly it copied all its ideas from GoW. That still isn’t the issue. I just couldn’t get over the disgusting characters you would come across in the game. Nothing that iI’d like to discuss in length here. Although the story of the game is good, it’s basically about a Christian crusade who goes into the depths of hell to rescue his wife who’s been taken by Lucifer. The weapons used in the game are, well, not so thrilling as there is only one. Nonetheless, the moves you can purchase later on the game will avoid any monotony. The environments are great, no comparison to GoW but they quite realistically portray hell, just like how you imagine it to be in your imagination. The fight sequences are good, not top of the line but good. The boss fights are nothing exceptional, not something you would discuss with your friends when your done with the game.
I am in no position to comment on the rest of the game as I didn’t finish it (my tummy couldn’t handle all of it). Bottom line, its a game that can be avoided, you probably can play it but it would give you any good memories about it, it might give you nightmares when your thinking about it. I’m guessing your better off chipping that money towards a used ipod instead. Good luck with finishing it, I couldn’t. I wouldn’t bothering finishing it myself.

THE GRID EXPERIENCE

THE GRID EXPERIENCE

Grid brings forth a new era of racing to gaming platforms. Four simple reasons made me enjoy this game throughly compared to countless other racing games available on shelves.

First of, the game modes have made it more exciting, realistic and believable compared to the overcrowed market of street racers. Grand Turismo would be the right word, your taken on to tons of tracks across the world namely Japan, Europe, U.S.A and Global challenge. Their varied enough to avoid any More

Upcoming PS3 Releases

The next few months promise to be an exciting time for those who look forward to their new games. Let’s take a closer look at a couple of titles that are sure to sell.

Call of Duty: Black Ops (Treyarch) - After the massively successful Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, success has come very easy to the people at Activision. They have Infinity Ward on one side and Treyarch on the other, both creating brilliant games for the Call of More
